Passengers of three vehicles including their drivers have been kidnapped along the Emohua axis of the East-West road in Rivers State.

The victims were kidnapped around 9 pm on Wednesday.

A member of a local vigilante group in the community, who confirmed the incident, said one of the vehicles was a fully loaded commercial bus, one Sienna car and a private vehicle.

The vehicles were diverted at gunpoint by suspected kidnappers into a nearby forest around Evekwu-Rumuodogo.

The source however could not ascertain the number of victims.

According to vigilante members, the group attempted to chase the kidnappers after tracing their footsteps but could not continue at some point.

In the meantime, security operatives attached to the Rumuji Division of the Rivers State Police Command have visited the scene of the incident.
