The General Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has been rushed to a hospital after he collapsed, while delivering a lecture in Lagos.

The Daily Independent is reporting that the vocal 60-year-old pastor is at Reddington Hospital, Lagos.

Why he collapsed and his current condition is not immediately known.

He was speaking at the Renaissance Capital 6th Annual Pan-African Investor Conference in Lagos on Tuesday, May 18.

The Executive Council of The Latter Rain Assembly released a short statement, calling for calm from all concerned Nigerians as he recuperates.

“Thank you all for your outpouring of affection and concern through calls, messages, and prayers. Please be assured that Pastor ‘Tunde Bakare is hale, hearty and in good spirits, though in need of rest.

“We therefore ask everyone to please remain calm and give him the space and time to fully recuperate over the next few days. Thank you all once again,” the statement concluded.

Bakare was running mate to President-elect Muhammadu Buhari in the 2011 presidential election on the platform of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) where they lost to outgoing President Goodluck Jonathan.
