The Life of Hamisu Aguada Who Was Born Without Arms

In most times, a person born disabled has a lot of limitations depending on his area of disability. A person born without arms hardly does things a normal person with hands does but this was not the story of this 40-year-old. He identified his strength in his area of disability and does everything that a normal person can, though he was born without arms. Meet Hamisu Aguada, the man whose life of living without arms shocked everyone.

This man is identified as a Tanzanian from a village called Tabula. He is 40 years old and has been living his whole life in this village. Though no one would prefer to be born without arms Hamisu says he does not need arms in his everyday life because he does everything that people with arms do like washing, cultivating and weeding.

Hamisu is a married man with a kid but his wife and son left him. He now lives with his mother. With his disability, the school was not a barrier to him at all since he used his leg to write as any normal person does with his or her hands. He had difficulty with his writing speed and he was given much time to finish all his assignments. According to Hamisu, he did not join the school of impaired people because they were extremely poor and could not afford to pay his fees at that time.

After his wife and son left him, Hamisu did not marry again because the people in his village are afraid of him because of his disability. This makes him feel bad sometimes as a person born without arms. In his childhood, he used to hide a lot because of his impairment and hardly could go beside his agemate. Later, he embraced himself and accepted who he is and started getting along with kinds of his age. His message to people who are impaired is that they should not be discouraged because they are human being like others. Even though society and other people may abandon you but just accept who you are and move on in life.

Hamisu does not see any obstacle. All he sees is success in his everyday life. He does fishing, riding a boat and carrying firewood. His father used to tell him that what belongs to a friend is rarely his. Before passing away, he told him that he would pass away at any point in time but he should be able to take care of himself before that time comes because there would be no other person to help him.

When he was born, doctors were surprised to see him because it was their first time seeing a baby born without arms. His mum did not want to leave the hospital because she wanted the doctors to do something about her baby arms but they told her there was nothing they could do about it. She and her husband had no other option than to take their baby home to look after him till he grows.

Sometimes, life can be so hard and one may feel like quitting. You can turn every your unbearable situation around for your good. Never be discouraged but believe in your self no matter how poor you may be or your condition may be.
