A newly married man in the Ire area of Osun State, Muritala Afolabi, had claimed that the abuse and emotional torture he was receiving from the woman whom he married a few months ago had made him attempt to burn himself to death.Muritala Afolabi, who was rescued by people who heard his cry as fire burnt his body and took him to a nearby hospital, revealed that since he married in July 2022, the woman has made life miserable for him with constant abuse and curses.

In his words, "on Friday, as I decided to end it all due to the frustration and constant curses and abuses I had been getting from my wife, whom I married in July this year, I entered into a filling station, bought some petrol, and moved into a forest at the back of a secondary school and set myself ablaze."

"When some people heard my cry as the fire burned my body, they rushed to the bush, rescued me and brought me to the hospital for treatment."

However, the wife stated that she failed to understand why her husband attempted to commit suicide.
