Mr. Gbenga Owolabi, a hotelier killed by kidnappers in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, a few weeks ago has been buried in the United States of America.
The remains of the America-based Nigerian who came home after several decades of living in the USA were flown out recently.
DAILY POST recalls that Owolabi was kidnapped in July this year.
He was thereafter killed by the kidnappers after a ransom of N5 million was paid.
The duo was killed by the kidnappers in August this year.
Owolabi, a US citizen, was said to be living in Maryland and decided to invest in the hospitality business in his hometown, Ogbomoso, before he was kidnapped in his hotel alongside his staff, Rachael Opadele, a student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso, who was doing menial job due to the ongoing strike embarked upon by Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
Our correspondent gathered that the remains of the hotelier have been committed to mother earth in the USA.
DAILY POST gathered from family members that the deceased was buried in Maryland. after service on Saturday, 1st October at the Trinity Life Church, Maryland, United States.
Ayorinde Owolabi, while speaking, revealed that the USA gave the Nigerian government a time frame to find his killers.
Owolabi said the American government asked the Department of State Services to bring his brother’s killers to justice.
He said, “The American government wanted evidence, and they came down here to do a post-mortem. Another post-mortem was done in the US before the burial. The case was presented at the United Nations meeting, which was just concluded.
“They have given the Nigerian government a time frame to get the perpetrators; the instruction was given to the DSS office, but up till now, no arrest has been made. They already have the facts that herdsmen were behind the killing.
“The American government took his body from LAUTECH back to the US. A death certificate was obtained at the LAUTECH teaching hospital and also at the Delaware State Military Hospital, USA”.
