Two farmers, Samuel Oyedotun and Tobiloba Fashola, were kidnapped while returning from their farm along the Ede/Ileoogbo road in Ayedire Local Government Area of Osun State last Wednesday.
The abductors demanded a ransom of N25 million, but later agreed to collect N6 million, which was delivered to them in a border community between Kogi and Kwara State.
However, after the ransom was delivered, three relatives, including the elder brother of Samuel, were detained and an additional N24 million was demanded for their release.
On Wednesday morning, Samuel and Tobiloba were released in a bush, and another relative who was among those that went to deliver the ransom in Kogi state was also released.
The release of the two farmers and their relative comes as a relief to their families and the community, who were deeply concerned for their safety. The incident highlights the ongoing problem of kidnapping in the region, and the devastating impact it can have on families and communities.
