Speakers are drawn from different parts of the world – Canada, United Kingdom, Nigeria etc. Ms. Kemi Amusan (Lady Kay) in an interaction with Oases News Reporter, went further to explain that need for the above became necessary based on her exposure to the African community especially in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada, other countries with huge presence of immigrants and Africa where Developmental disabilities, especially autism are still categorized as evil and witchcraft affliction. Also, parents with such children are stigmatized and may not be open to discussing the topic thereby being deprived of emotional support, key information etc. According to her "It is a hard topic to talk about in the black community but we must break the ice to look for support, resources and possible solutions". Her rich experience in the community, supporting women and families, networking with newcomers and old have inspired her for the clarion call to attend to this topic. Globally, families, health care workers, teachers, community leaders and friends all over the world are gearing up for this much needed round table discussion.
