Man walks from Lagos to Abuja

A 46-year-old trekker, simply identified as David Adjarho, arrived Abuja, yesterday, May 27.

According to him, the aim of his journey was to promote ‘wrapper marathon’ in Nigeria.

Speaking with newsmen upon his arrival in Abuja, Adjarho said the exercise was to promote tourism and attract investment into such a marathon.

It was gathered that Adjarho started his journey in Lagos and completed the 787-kilometer walk on Wednesday, May 27, 2015.

Donned in a 15-yard Ankara material, the trekker said he hoped to promote a N500 million fund raiser for five Non-Governmental Organisations in the country.

He listed the NGOs as Beach Samaritan; Active 8; Government College, Ughelli old Boys Association; 3-1 equal 2 and the Biggest Food Library in Nigeria.

Another reason he gave for his foot walk from Lagos to Abuja was to be a witness to the inauguration of the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, which is slated for Friday, May 29.

The trekker said: “I have been the only man involved in wrapper marathon in the world and if embraced in Nigeria, the competition will attract revenue and investment into the tourism sector. I started this walk on May 6 from the National Stadium, Lagos and here I am now in Abuja on May 27″.
