According to the Rapid Response Squad unit of the Lagos Police Command, Sunday Osagie and Ayodele Adeolu have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the robbery of skit maker Ekwutousi Philo.
The report was shared on the unit’s Facebook page on Tuesday.
Ekwutousi Philo had released a viral video on October 20 accusing some policemen in the Alapere area of Ketu, Lagos State of robbing her.
The RRS unit swiftly responded and apprehended Osagie, a former spy/mechanic, and his accomplice, Ayodele Adeolu, aged 45.
“Based on a viral video from skit maker Ekwutousi Philo, who alleged that she was robbed on October 20, 2023, along Ketu – Alapere Highway by some policemen, the Decoy Team of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) has arrested Sunday Osagie, aged 31, who appeared in the video with the skit maker.
“Ayodele Adeolu, aged 45, was also arrested along with the suspect. Two vehicles, a ‘korope’ with the registration number LA 910 FST and a Toyota Yaris Verso with the registration number FST 656 JD, were recovered.
“Sunday Osagie was employed as a Spy/Mechanic by the Lagos State Government in May 2011. In April 2023, he was dismissed from the Lagos State Public Service and relieved of his duties for “Absence from duty for six months without permission, illegal duties, and extortion of money from innocent citizens” after facing the Personnel Management Board (PMB).”
The statement further revealed that the suspects and the seized evidence have been transferred to the Lagos Police Command for further investigation.
“Commander of the Rapid Response Squad, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, has instructed that the suspects and the recovered vehicles be transferred to the State Command for further investigation,” concluded the statement.
