Boko Haram destroys 330 KVA power towers in Yobe
The police command in Yobe State has reported that suspected Boko Haram insurgents destroyed two 330 KVA power transmission towers in the state.
Dungus Abdulkarim, the spokesperson for the command, said this when he spoke with newsmen in Damaturu on Saturday.
According to him, the transmission towers supply electricity from Gombe to Yobe and Borno states.
Abdulkarim said that the attackers were believed to have used improvised explosive devices to blow up the facilities in the early hours of Saturday.
He noted that the transmission towers are located in Kasaisa, Damaturu Local Government Area of the state.
“The destruction has plunged residents of the two states into darkness,” Abdulkarim said.
The towers were previously destroyed in December and were only repaired in January.
