BOKO HARAM: 2 Suicide Bombers, Scores Of Boko Haram Insurgents killed

Two suicide bombers were among scores of Boko Haram insurgents killed Thursday night in a botched attack in Borno state.

The Defence Headquarters in a statement today said the suicide bombers were leading a band of terrorists who attempted to invade Shetimari in Borno state. “Troops succeeded in repelling the terrorist attack on Shetimari in Borno State yesterday (Thursday) evening. Over 12 rifles and 1 machine gun were captured from the terrorists group as the attack was repelled. Also recovered from the group were rocket propelled grenades and some bombs.

“Troops conducting mopping up operation are still combing the area while others are in pursuit of those who are on the run”, the statement added. The military also confirmed that “incidents of suicide bomb attacks were also recorded in Jimeta Yola and Maiduguri yesterday (Thursday) evening, adding that details are still forthcoming.

“The offensive operations in Sambisa and other forest enclaves of the terrorists are continuing with intelligence activities, aerial surveillance and highly coordinated air bombardment backed by ground assaults”, the military stressed.
