Ondo activist and media personality, Ogunmola Oluwaseun Joshua also known as Ogbeni Sugar, shared photos of the final student of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Modupe Ayandare, who allegedly committed suicide after attending a church vigil.
Modupe, who was in the 500 level of the Department of Agronomy of the institution, was found hanged beside the church which is located off-campus of the institution.
It was gathered that the deceased went to a vigil at the white garment church and left in the early hours of Monday, June 18, 2024, to hang herself at an uncompleted building beside the church.
In a post on Tuesday, the political analyst said the Modupe family is calling on the school management, the DSS, ONDO NPF, and especially the Ondo State Government to investigate her death.
“JUSTICE FOR AYANDARE MODUPE! Once upon a time, it was Dangote and other Heavy trucks that gave the students of AAUA and the people of Akungba-Akoko some sleepless nights and the ugly incidents were able to be laid to rest but it seems this is taking a new dimension already where students live is now being cut short frequently,” he wrote.
"Yesterday, it was reported that this 500-level Student of Agriculture, AYANDARE MODUPE, who was also the President of the said faculty allegedly committed suicide after she returned from a vigil around 4 am but looking at the scenario and reports surrounding this pathetic event, the claim seems suspicious.
"This young promising young lady deserves justice. Her loved ones are calling on the School Management, the DSS, ONDO NPF, and especially the Ondo State Government to look into this and unravel the misery behind it.
“Unfortunately, the rate at which my Alma Mata (Adekunle Ajasin University) now loses students is becoming rampant, alarming, pathetic, and uncalled for.”
