A tailor has been detained by the Department of State Service (DSS) in Kano State for making and holding Russian flags during ongoing protests in the Northern region.
Some protesters have been seen with these flags while calling for help from the Russian government amid the #EndBadGovernance protests. Security expert Zagazola shared this information in a post on X on Monday.
The post stated, “DSS arrested Tailor for sewing Russian Federation Flags.”
Over the weekend, images and videos of protesters with the Russian flag and tailors creating the flags circulated on social media.
President Bola Tinubu addressed the nation on Sunday, August 4, warning protesters not to be used for purposes that could harm democratic progress.
He said, “Let us work together to build a brighter future for ourselves and for generations to come. Let us choose hope over fear, unity over division, and progress over stagnation. The economy is recovering; Please, don’t shut out its oxygen. Now that we have been enjoying democratic governance for 25 years, do not let the enemies of democracy use you to promote an unconstitutional agenda that will set us back on our democratic journey. Forward ever, backward never!”
