BREAKING: Sokoto Youths Protest Brutal Killing Of Traditional Leader, Sarkin Gobir By Terrorists, Burn Tyres (Video)

Sarkin Gobir

The violent demonstration reflects the anger of the youth who demand justice for the slain traditional leader and immediate action from the authorities to curb the rising wave of violence.

Following the kidnapping and brutal murder of Alhaji Isa Muhammad Bawa, the Sarkin Gobir of Gatawa District, by his abductors on Wednesday, several youth groups in Sabon Birni Gobir Local Government Area of Sokoto State have staged a protest.

In a video obtained on Thursday, the protesters, seen in large numbers, marched towards the residence of the state's deputy governor, Alhaji Idris Muhammad Gobir, burning tyres and other valuables along the way.

The violent demonstration reflects the anger of the youth who demand justice for the slain traditional leader and immediate action from the authorities to curb the rising wave of violence.

The voice in the video says, “Some youths of Sabon Birni Gobir local government area of Sokoto state have taken to the streets to protest the kidnapping and gruesome killing of Alhaji Isa Muhammad Bawa, the Sarkin Gobir of Gatawa District in Sokoto State.

“The youths in their large numbers are heading to the home of the state's deputy governor of the state, burning tyres and other valuables.”

Meanwhile we had earlier reported that the burial of Alhaji Isa was held without his corpse.

Alhaji Bawa was abducted, tortured, and brutally killed by the terrorists on Wednesday.

Before his tragic death, a distressing video surfaced showing the late Bawa pleading for his life and urging the government to intervene.

According to a Facebook user Sarki Yaqi, the ceremony was conducted in accordance with Islamic guidelines for such circumstances, which permit burial without the physical presence of the deceased.

The post reads, “The burial of the Alhaji Isa Muhammad Bawa, the Sarkin Gobir of Gatawa District in Sokoto State has been held now without his corpse.

“The burial of the king of Kudun Gobir has just concluded, the burial ceremony of the death of the gunmen who were killed and held his corpse and buried.

“The burial was held without a corpse just like the religion of Islam said if that happens.

SaharaReporters had also reported that the terrorists responsible for the gruesome murder of Alhaji made a chilling demand.

They demanded a ransom of N60 million and five motorcycles in exchange for the release of the traditional ruler's body for proper burial.

Bawa and his son were taken captive in July at Kwanar Maharba while en route from Sokoto to Sabon Birni, his hometown and the headquarters of Sabon Birni local government in Sokoto State.

The kidnappers initially demanded a staggering N1 billion ransom for the release of the victims.

The heart-wrenching video circulating online shows the late traditional ruler, speaking in Hausa, recounting his terrifying experience of being kidnapped by terrorists.

He desperately appealed for help, stating that their lives were in grave danger and they were suffering in the forest where they were being held captive.

In the video, a gunman can be heard dictating what the victims should say, further highlighting the coercion and duress they faced.

Tragically, his plea for rescue was not heeded in time, as he was killed by the terrorists on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has condemned the tragic circumstances leading to the passing of Bawa.

President Tinubu described the attack on the traditional ruler as deeply disturbing and a heinous act that will not go without a decisive response.

He extended his “profound condolences to the bereaved family, the Gobir Emirate, and the government of Sokoto State”.
