The fear of extradition is the begining of wisdom: Buruji Kashamu Fled From An Abuja Bound Flight

Buruji Kashamu may be afraid of his own shadow after all, and that’s putting it mildly.

The Senator representing Ogun-East district in the upper legislative chamber has been running from the law for a greater part of the year as he fends off attempts to extradite him to the United States to face drug related charges.

PM News reports that the specter of a time in jail probably haunts Mr. Kashamu more than he lets on. According to the story:

Kashamu was billed to travel to Abuja from Lagos today.

He had sat in the Business class of Aero Flight 127, Abuja-bound, along with his lawyers when the captain announced a minor problem with the plane. The captain said the light of an indicator had not come on brightly enough and that the Aero engineers are fixing the problem.

To keep the passengers at ease, the captain gave the assurance that the problem was nothing to worry about. And that the resolution of the problem will not take three minutes.

Three minutes in the life of Kashamu must be a pretty long time at the moment and he took the next pragmatic step:

No sooner had the captain finished talking, than Kashamu signalled to his lawyers, asking them to alight from the plane. Other passengers who had calmly listened to Captain Kunle’s explanation remained glued to their seats and burst out laughing when Buruji and his lawyers scampered away.

But they aren’t in Kashamu’s shoes, are they? So they can laugh all they want.

Aero Flight 127, which left Lagos at 14.45 landed in Abuja without incidents.
