Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State yesterday boiled with pressure following the indefinite suspension of the chairman, John Onyeakpa, by the councilors over allegations of misconduct, poor performance among others.
The chairman had been earlier served with impeachment notice on Thursday, which led to the chairman dragging the chief judge of the state to court, stopping him for setting up a panel.
In a statement made available after the councillors sitting at Umunze headquarters of the council area, the councilors directed the chairman to hand over to his deputy, Sir Emma Enwere within 24 hours.
The motion for his suspension was moved by the Leader of the House, Sir Chukwudi Okwuma and supported by all the 15 members present out of the 18 members of the House.
Okwuma, alleged that the chairman had crippled the activities of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the council area and had equally accused Governor Obiano for sponsoring councilors.
On his part, the Chairman information and security Hyginus Umeaka alleged that the chairman had turned the council area into a private business, while Mr. Stanistus Nnaka accused him of being obstinate.
Already, Anambra State Police Command had deployed enough security to the local government area to maintain peace, law and order.
