We would like to welcome the timely appointment of new service chiefs and national security adviser by President Buhari. The firing and appointment of service Chiefs by President Buhari has not come as a surprise. For some time now, news from the grapevines and rumors indicated that the outgoing Services Chiefs and national security adviser were going to be fired. The general feeling by many who have expressed their opinion publicly in the media is that the outgoing service chiefs have performed below the expectations.
Speaking from Dubai, Prof. Isa Odidi, Director General Diaspora Campaign, Buhari Support Group Centre said "President Buhari in appointing the new Service Chiefs and national security adviser has not only taken into consideration Nigeria's diversity, geopolitical spread and ethnicity but more importantly, President Buhari has appointed some of the finest officers the Nigerian Military has produced, the new service chiefs and national security adviser are officers who have consistently demonstrated impeccable intelligence, integrity, and professionalism throughout their military career". When contacted for their reaction, Barr. Solomon Dalung and Hon Dr. Mohammad Sani Abdu (Member National Assembly) in Abuja, Nigeria also echoed Prof. Odidi's sentiments.
APC USA International Secretariat agrees with Prof. Odds comments as a cursory analysis of the new service chiefs, national security adviser antecedents lends support to why they are the best choice:
- Major-General Abayomi Gabriel Olonishakin – Chief of Defence Staff (Ekiti State);
- Major-General T.Y. Buratai – Chief of Army Staff (Bornu State);
