Market traders in Jos have apprehended three persons suspected to be members of Boko Haram sect.
Mohammed Auwal, a vendor said traders noticed the suspicious movement of the suspects after they parked a tinted Honda Accord vehicle.
"Some of the traders noticed that they came down from the vehicle and went in different directions so we got suspicious. We confronted them and one of them was found with a number of sim cards.”
Chairman of shoe sellers at the market, Zakari Ya’u Adamu, said the suspects were seen making calls, adding “we divided ourselves into groups and went after them. At the beginning, they were trying to resist our interrogation, but when they noticed that some youths were ready to attack them, they cooperated. One of them was found with five sim cards while the other was found with four.”
The chairman said one of the suspects claimed to be an aide to the sacked chairman of Qua’an Pan Local Government Area.
“We then went to the Terminus police station and they all wrote contradictory statements before they were
moved to the C. Division,” he said.
He said with the spate of attacks by terrorists, the traders assigned youths to monitor people around the market.
