WHAT A WASTE!: NDDC board spent N4bn to sponsor PDP in 2015 – Ex-militant leaders

The dissolution of the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, by President Muhammadu Buhari has been hailed by former Niger Delta militant leaders, even as they called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to investigate the last board of the interventionist agency.

The ex-militants, operating under the aegis of Niger Delta Watchdogs, NDND, stated this on Thursday in a statement signed by ‘General’ John Duku on behalf of others, insisting that the President’s action was a welcome development to the people of the Niger Delta.

According to NDND, while former President, Olusegun Obasanjo established the NDDC for the development of the region, the immediate dissolved board turned the commission to an institution for sponsoring ‘Peoples Democratic Party elections’ in 2015, declaring that the NDDC spent over N4bn to sponsor PDP elections when abandoned projects belonging to the commission littered the entire Niger Delta region.

The ex-militant leaders therefore called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to investigate the immediate past board of the commission and urged President Buhari to appoint a technocrat and God-fearing person as the new managing director of the NDDC.
