US ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle, today held an interactive session with Nigerians on Facebook.
During the session, he spoke on $6billion that was allegedly looted by a Minister in the Goodluck Jonathan administration. He said, ''Many people have asked this question about $6 billion my answer is during President Buhari’s meetings in Washington, we had several in depth discussions about the extent of the corruption challenge in Nigeria''.
''Many of you asked about stolen funds in U.S. banks. The U.S. stands ready to continue its efforts to find funds that were looted out of the country and may now be in U.S. bank accounts. Understand, however, that this is an extremely complicated process which takes detailed investigation. Moreover, these cases can sometimes take time in U.S. courts. But, as was made clear to President Buhari, the United States is determined to help in this regard.''
The Ambassador however, refused to make a direct comment on whether or not the US government told President President and his entourage that $6billion was stolen from a former minister.
