MEN of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a clergyman from a pentecostal church in the town of Ozoro after finding him in a cemetery where he was allegedly performing rituals on a teenage girl. 

In a bizarre incident, the police acted on a tip-off and stormed the graveyard where the pastor was performing what he called ritual healing on a 14-year old.  Police spokesman, deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Celestina Kalu, confirmed that the pastor was arrested by detectives following a tip-off. 

DSP Kalu said: “On July 30, 2015, at about 10.30 pm, a police surveillance patrol team from Ozoro division, while on routine patrol arrested one Pastor Oro Oboreh of Christ Freedom Family, Ozoro, in a cemetery. The suspect was arrested with a teenage girl, Chioma Praise, aged 14 years. 

“On interrogation, the suspect claimed that he was performing spiritual healing on the said Chioma Praise. He added that this was to enable her attain academic prowess.” 

It is not yet clear if the ritual healing involved any physical mutilation of sexual assault. It has also not been ascertained if any ritualist was arrested alongside the clergyman.
