plane passenger was arrested on a charge of arson after setting fire to the aircraft as it was descending to the airport, police in China said.

Guangzhou police said that the man who tried to set fire to the cabin of the plane as it was landing, was overpowered by other passengers and crew.

 Two of the 95 passengers were injured and were taken to a hospital.

The incident unfolded on Sunday, on Shenzhen Airlines flight ZH9648, which took off from Taizhou and landed in Guangzhou.

Pictures that were uploaded to the Internet, showed burns on a passenger seat and a blackened cabin door, suggesting that some sort of fire had been lit.

The plane also carried nine crew members.
