In a silently loud article of July 21st this year, a DailyPost masculine source close to deposed NSA Sambo Dasuki revealed that the former NSA knows the “prominent Nigerians” sponsors of Boko Haram.
I had expected Nigerians to jump on the revelation but the article went cold.
DailyPost’s “source” who based on the information provided in the article and posture of advocacy, was an insider, close to the embattled NSA, said the following, as reads in the DailyPost excerpt;
‘…the treatment meted out to Dasuki has been a subject of discussion among many Northern elites who believe any court process will lead to disclosure of many other issues not fit for public consumption. The set of Nigerians include serving and retired senior military officers, traditional rulers, politicians and even insiders in the new government. “The calibre of personalities that have reached out to him (Dasuki) will shock you,” the source says. Asked to disclose such persons, he said, “I cannot mention names but they include Generals, Emirs, politicians, as well as loyalists of the current administration.”’
The Dasuki “source” went further to unleash the threatening and blackmailing posture against these so-called sponsors on behalf of Dasuki as quoted:
‘“This is pure witch-hunting, ridicule and persecution. Those asking Dasuki not to go to court knows that he is being pushed to the wall and that the outcome will not be funny. “In his three years at that post, he had access to all the classified documents you can think of. Documents with facts on Boko Haram; documents on political parties and who their members really are. We are talking about damning revelations. “Dasuki had access to list of questionable characters who funded these parties. He had access to list all those indicted for corruption and other serious charges over the years among others. Imagine if he divulges such to the whole world. “Those who have fired the first salvo should not get too comfortable. No one is saying the man should not be probe, but the law must be followed and people’s rights must be respected.’
The message was clear. Only a Dasuki ally can know that multiple people are contacting/calling Dasuki as alleged. The “source” was publishing the threat and blackmail notice for Dasuki; telling these corrupt persons and Boko Haram sponsors in and out of the current government as the “source” alleged and who include Army Generals and Traditional leaders, that they better hold fire or Dasuki will fire.
“I know you corrupt elite and sponsors of Boko Haram and I will divulge your names if I go down,” was the blackmail being presented for Dasuki.
It is not the first time Nigeria’s masses have been openly undermined, rubbished, devalued and held to ransom in real or false games by the Elite. The current Governor of Borno recently said on several occasions that he knew the sponsors of Boko Haram but was “restraining” from revealing them so “elite heads do not roll.”
An ENDS member at one of the events in Abuja challenged him to speak up. We have since expected the masses to go up in furry, demanding the Borno Governor spill the beans and let the Elite heads roll as our masses heads have been rolling in our blood. Nigerians have been frightfully silent as have been our security department.
It is as though the masses and State security department have accepted that the people’s heads can keep rolling, the pogrom can continue and millions can keep being displaced with thousands of our sons and daughters being violated but the Elite can make confessions and admissions of hiding Boko Haram’s sponsors, and avoid being held to the ordinance of the Anti-Terror Bill as amended in 2012.
In similar fashion, Nigeria’s former president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan admitted knowing the sponsors of Boko Haram and promised to reveal these since 2012. He has not been held to account; there has been no uproars, tens of thousands have been killed and he walks free.
Ex-NSA Sambo Dasuki was charged with “treasonable felony.” We know what that stands for. Based on that charge it is counter constitutional for him to yet remain a free man. Based on the confessions obtained in the publication on his behalf in the DailyPost, the NSA, head of Nigeria’s security department for the past few years of Boko Haram terror indeed has aided and abetted terror and corruption and treason against the Nigerian State by knowing these alleged sponsors of Boko Haram, a terror group that wipes out the nation’s northeast, and providing a cover for them.
While we know that the Office of National Security, oNSA is the office that knows these details, and we recollect that when Dasuki’s predecessor, “the PDP party” as being behind the terror, he died under suspicious conditions at the end of the year and remains the only top Nigerian officer to die in such manner through out the Jonathan administration; yet this fear of assassination does not authorize an NSA to aid and abet terror masterminds.
If NSA Sambo Dasuki as the DailyPost July 21st publication portrays, knows the sponsors of terror, it was his duty to either arrange for their arrest or immediately resign in keeping with his oath of office and sworn duty to protect the lives of Nigerians and provide security for the nation.
We call on Nigerians to rise up against all those who have confessed knowing the sponsors of the terror that has diminished us.
We call on the new NSA, the new DSS, the new DMI, and all new heads of Service to immediately arrest all those who have admitted knowing and aiding by covering the sponsors of the Boko Haram menace for immediate and thorough investigation.
Have mercy on the lives of the Chibok girls for God sake. Have pity on the predicament of the millions of displaced Nigerians. Have compassion on the farmers and fishermen who have lost their means of existence. Have sympathy on the families of the dead and mutilated. Rise up and act to arrest this monster from the head. We cannot be threatened publicly, ridiculed, blackmailed and sabotaged by government officials and have nothing done. We are not cows!
I will protest. We will protest loudly at home and abroad if nothing is done.
