A former member of the Benue State House of Assembly, representing Ukum state constituency, Mr. Douglas Bergha, was murdered on Monday by suspected assassins around 7pm.Two other unidentified persons were also killed.
The incident occurred at Kundav, in the Ukum Local Government Area of the state.
Bergha was contesting the chairmanship election in the local government on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
He was formerly of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, while in the Assembly.
The Punch reports that the former lawmaker was trailed by the gunmen and murdered in the presence of his family members.
The Assistant Police Public Relations Officer, Benue State Command, Matthew Oku, who confirmed the incident, said two people were killed, including a motorcyclist who reportedly blocked them.
