UPDATE ON Tortured, brutalized and dehumanized Madonna University students

As the case of alleged torture of two Madonna University students, Stanley Okoye, 23, a final year Civil Engineering student and Ga-Lim Aondofa Lord, who were reportedly tortured by the school authorities over allegation of cult activities gradually assumes a new dimension following a case instituted at the Federal High Court by the family of the brutalized students, the Madonna University Alumni Association under the leadership of Comrade Chima Achu has sued for peace, calling on both the University management and the students to tread with caution.

Lamenting the bad publicity the ugly incident had caused the institution; the Alumni dissociated itself from the sad development, calling for a thorough investigation into the remote and immediate cause of the incident, saying it was ready to mediate in order to restore peace between the school management and the aggrieved students.

The release personally signed by its President, Comrade Chima Achu said , ‘’Our attention has been drawn to speculations and allegations of human rights abuses perpetrated by some personnel of Madonna University (Our Alma mater) and by this medium wish to express our dismay at the bad publicity these allegations have now generated in the public domain.

‘’In as much as same is now lis pendis before a court of law, we disassociate ourselves from the alleged sad development as same is unacceptable to us as a body.

‘’The Alumni has now taken the liberty of these alleged unfortunate incident to engage the University to commence an upscale enquiry into the remote and direct cause of this allegations of violation and victimization of students by some University personnel with a view to stalling any future occurrence.

The alumni further avowed its commitment to a better Madonna, and to ensure that it does not derail from its commendable values, saying, ‘’Madonna University Alumni Association is committed to ensuring improved standards within the University environment and will continue in her strides to re-position our Alma Mater to enviable heights!’’

DAILY POST recalls that both students allegedly escaped death narrowly after they were reportedly abducted from their rooms on February 3, 2015, by the Chief Security Officer of the university, Okey Ogbonna and the Dean of Student Affairs, Rev. Fr. Isaac Nginga, a Catholic priest. According to the viral report, the students were tortured, brutalized and dehumanized.
