The fuss generated over the appointment made by President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday is nothing but red herring by the depraved elitist class. The dishonest impression was created by these bigots that there is still one monolithic Northern region or a Southern Nigeria in their frenzy to generate tension and hysteria.

The apposite questions is thus :How many Zones are in the Northern Nigeria? To the best of my knowledge, three comprising of North West ; North East and North Central. So Nigeria is not divided into North and South as some of these sectional champions would want us believe. There used to be a Northern region but this was abolished nearly fifty years.

Nigeria is a federation of 36 States and the Federal capital territory , Abuja. The Chief Justice of Nigeria is a career appointment, usually the most senior justice of the Supreme Court is appointed when the position becomes vacant . The present Chief Justice Mahmud Mohammed was appointed by former President Jonathan. He was aware that he is from the North but he still appointed him. The president Of the Court of Appeal is from Bauchi and it was former President Jonathan that appointed him. Also the current Chief Judge is from Bornu, he was also appointed by former President Jonathan. Now why did Jonathan appoint the Chief Justice ; President of the Court of Appeal and Chief Judges of both the Federal High Court and the High COURT of the Federal Capital territory , Abuja from the North? My brother Mbasekei Martin Obono who was an ardent defender of Jonathan did not complain then! Now Mbasekei Martin Obono tried to create the impression that it was President Buhari who appointed these judicial officers for the Federal judiciary?

Also when Jonathan was at the helm of affairs there was a period the Army Chief of Staff and the National Security Adviser were both from the South/South and my brother , Mbaseki did not see anything wrong . My brother attends a top university in the United Kingdom and should better use the High quality education and exposure he is enjoying there to better effect than whipping up ethnic, sectional and primordial divisions .

In the United Kingdom where my brother is living and studying, appointments are made on competence not whether one is a Wales or Scotland or English. The Chief of Staff to Jonathan for almost four years came from the South/South State of Edo. He replaced him with an Ijaw man from Ondo. ?And heavens did not fall!
