Abuja Bomb Blast: Government should Expand Partnership and Collaboration Now! - Francis John

This sudden news came to us as a shock and the APC - USA International  secretariat couldn’t bear it anymore and consequently advised to voice out our concerns immediately. Therefore, without missing words, APC USA International Secretariat hereby condemn this menace meant for cowards using: vulnerable-less privileged, minors and brainwashed individuals. Certainly uncalled for, not at this time that  we are witnessing progressive changes, when the nation is now taking shape. Perpetrators of these atrocities are enemies of Nigeria and must be penalized, regardless of positions.

It is mandatory to empower security operatives with latest security gadgets, early warning signs, facts finding, etc., for confidence and performance increment. And time for schools and institutions to include social ills in their curricula, such as bomb blasts, terrorism, etc.  Stakeholders, must vehemently use news and electronic media, including social media in educating the general populace all the times. Intermittently, encourage volunteerism after passing intensive security and background checks. To be in good standing, checks must be performed at least every quarter, including performance appraisals.

Similarly, last year two incidents were recorded in Abuja, another two just reported at Nyanya and Kuje Market Area, adjacent to a police station. The late Friday incident was the third to be recorded in Nyanya. Meaning, there exist some lapses, trigger for thorough investigations, as to which security operatives were assigned to the location, eye witnesses, passersby and residents. Additionally, solar powered cameras will supplement security operatives’ efforts.

The law must enforce this, “Everyone is a Mandated Reporter”- It’s a serious offence if not promptly reported, penalties include stringent punishment, without option to a jail term. As such, Nigerians must break their silence, open up, speak out, speak up, when they sniff any nefarious activities in their surroundings. For privacy and confidentiality; Law enforcement agencies must protect such individuals and information, and financially rewarded promptly, as practiced in advanced countries.

Right time to seek global collaborations, partnerships to combat the menace. Diaspora Nigerian Security Agencies are more than willing to serve in any capacity. A time for Nigeria to borrow from other countries' experiences and or join forces to combat delinquents. A task that must be done!
