One House, One Toilet, Fayose To Enforce New Policy in Ekiti

Ekiti State government has reaffirmed its determination to put an end to open defecation and enforce policy of one house, one toilet in the state.   

The commissioner for environment, Chief Bisi Kolawole made the reaffirmation while inaugurating the Ekiti state task group on sanitation in Ado Ekiti, the state capital..

“The group will drive the process of accelerating improved coverage of safe sanitation

service in the state towards the newly adopted Sustainable Development Goals, which seeks to achieve access to adequate and equitable sanitation and hygiene”, he said.

He called on members of the group to see the assignment as a call to duty and work towards ensuring that people in the state leaving in an hygienic environment.

The Permanent Secretary (PS) in the ministry of environment, Dr Omobolanle Fakunle said the inauguration of the group was to compliment government’s efforts aimed at improving environmental sanitation in the state.

His counterpart in the ministry of public utility, Sunday Akomolafe explained that the activities of the group will focus more on the rural areas, where open defecation is ‎prevalent.
