Diaspora group rejoices with newly crowned Oluwo of Iwo

The All Progressive Congress  (APC) Diaspora Canada  hereby  congratulate the newly crowned traditional ruler of Iwo Kingdom in Osun State, Nigeria, His Royal Majesty Oba Rasheed Adewale Akanbi , Olufate, Gbaase, Ilufemiloye 1.  This is a “great accomplishment”.

In the message jointly signed by the group’s Patron, Dr. Isa Odidi, the National Chairman, Kay Alabi and the National Secretary, Rahman Ilupeju, the group said that, the new king has made not only Nigerian-Canadians proud but all Nigerians in the Diaspora. “It takes a lot of guts and daring for someone who  lives far away from home to tread where even lion-hearted ones live and  fear to venture, and come out victorious”.

Furthermore, the group commends Prince Akanbi for proving to the world that the youth are ready and willing to take over leadership from ageing leaders.  Following  recent examples of the appointment of the 41-year old Prince Adeyeye Ogunwusi; the new Ooni Of Ife in Nigeria and the stunning electoral victory of 43-year old Justin Trudeau that has made him become Canada’s number one Citizen and Prime Minister.

It will be recalled that Prince Akanbi of the Gbaase Ruling House of Iwo became the new king after the approval by the Executive Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as conveyed in a letter dated November 9, 2015 citing “the completion of the due process by the kingmakers and the communication of their decision to the government”.  The letter was signed and distributed by the Secretary to the Osun State Government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti.

We thank the kingmakers, people of Iwo kingdom and the Governor of Osun state for the choice and appointment.

We also wish His Royal Highness Oba Rasheed Adewale Akanbi a long life and happy reign.
