A popular pastor in Namibia, died during prayer services after being struck by lightning, police said.

 Rundu police said that 41-year-old Kavanga John Karora, died immediately after being struck by lightning on Sunday.

Members of the Apostolic Church who were at the scene, reported that Karora was leading the prayer services when the lightning struck him.

A large plume of smoke was seen around the pastor about 12:30 p.m. Paramedics who arrived at the scene, were unable to revive Karora.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
