Suspect arrested for stealing women panties for rituals

A creepy criminal was on Friday arrested for allegedly stealing ladies’ underwear from cloth lines in Kapkere village, in Nandi County.

The man, Dominic Iganga, 25, was frog marched to Kapkere police station alongside his grandmother, Truphena Obayo, and another old relative who he accused of being behind the bizarre theft.

CONFESSION

The suspect confessed to have been sneaking into homesteads and stealing both clean and dirty women panties and handing them to his old grandmother.

“She did not at any point tell me what she was using them for. The instructions I had was to go around homesteads stealing them,” confessed Mr Iganga.

The panty thief struck in one of the homes on Friday and was spotted by a villager who followed him to his home before raising alarm.

One victim grew suspicious after noticing her cloth line was tipped and her panties were missing.

Villagers and victims of this unusual theft assembled and surrounded the home after cornering the young man.

BEWITCHED

“We have been bewitched by these people. We are unable to perform in our marital beds,” claimed a villager who was a victim to the theft.

Other victims, mostly young men, claimed that they have been unable to get married, while others claimed that their girlfriends and wives had developed funny behaviours in their marital beds.

They said that the old women and the young man had bewitched them by putting the stolen panties in a pot filled with concoctions and spreading them for a snake to sleep on.

Another victim, who wished to remain anonymous, said the suspect might be masturbating into the stolen panties.

“We feel very unsafe. I don’t feel comfortable leaving any of my clothes in the line. I think it’s a pretty disgusting crime and it’s not really fair for somebody else to make people suffer this way. These people should be banished from this area and let us get back to our everyday lives,” a victim said.

Police in the station declined to comment.
