A South African Father Throws His Daughter From Rooftop In An Attempt To Save His Illegal Shack

A 38-year-old father has been charged with attempted murder after he threw his 6-month-old daughter off the roof!

The man climbed up his shack with his daughter in his hands as he threatened the police officers to drop his child down from there.   This incident took place in Kwadwesi, near Port Elizabeth on South Africa’s eastern cape coast, in an attempt to protest against the demolishment of his illegal shack.

The guy suspended his daughter from her legs and dangled her from the roof while trying to negotiate with the police.

Others protesters in the town were chanting ‘throw, throw, throw..‘ while the little girl was swinging over the end of the rooftop, screaming at the top of her lungs.

A policeman raced to the rooftop trying to save the child. First, he tried to bargain with the father, when that failed, he tried to grab the man in an effort to save the girl but the guy threw his baby right away!

Fortunately, the policemen had already positioned themselves in place to catch the baby. And they caught the child right on time. Luckily, the little girl was not hurt in any way.

The African man was arrested afterwards by the police for the attempted murder of his daughter. This event took place because the police were sent to the township in Kwadwesi to make sure that the demolishment of 90 illegal shacks was done properly.

That is when 150 protesters started rioting, throwing things and burning tyre.

He further explained the case, “The 38-year-old father has been charged with the attempted murder of his daughter and the case is being handled by the Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences unit.”

The baby is now given to her mother. Local social services are making sure that both, the child and the mother are safe.

The Motherwell Cluster Commander Major General Dawie Rabie said that he was shocked to see that a father would sacrifice his child’s own life just to save an illegal structure.

The Commander Major also praised the efforts of the police and was thankful for their actions.
