FURY OVER FACEBOOK! Stop using Facebook, say kasi residents

THE councillor used Facebook to invite people to apply for jobs in the Lindelani and Richmond farm kasi area.

Soon hundreds of people gathered outside his house in the early morning hours . . .

But when Ward 38 Councillor Mbuyi Sibiya peeped outside he saw it wasn’t new Facebook friends – but angry residents!

The furious residents complained that their social media-using councillor was too modern for them.

They said that because he advertised jobs on his Facebook page, most of them missed out on job opportunities as they were not on social media. They added that it also led to outsiders being hired to work in their area.

Residents protested outside Sibiya’s house as early as 1am yesterday, demanding that he come out and explain himself.

Soon the main road and other entrances to the kasi were blocked with burning tyres and huge stones, and teachers and nurses on their way to local schools and clinics were turned away! Cops kept a close eye on the councillor’s house as residents protested outside.

They said they also wanted to know why there was no response to their memorandum of grievances given to him seven months ago.

Councillor Sibiya invited the SunTeam to his house for an interview but cops blocked the People’s Paper, saying they trusted no one.

KZN Major Thulani Zwane confirmed the incident, saying no damage was reported and no arrests were made.
