Eyewitness Mariesha Payne said she knew people were being tortured by the sadistic gunmen because she could hear their screams without gunshots
ISIS gunmen used knives to torture their mortally wounded victims by slitting their stomachs as they lay on the floor, it has been claimed.
An eyewitness who hid in a cellar for three hours as the armed murderers rampaged through the packed Bataclan Theatre in Paris said she knew people were being tortured because she could hear their screams.
Mariesha Payne, from Perthshire, told the Daily Mail: "We knew people were being tortured in the theatre because we heard people screaming, but they were not being shot and these were singular screams.
'When we escaped a man trapped on the level where it happened said to us the terrorists were stabbing people in the stomach. We were told they were throwing explosives at people. It was a horrendous ordeal."
Mrs Payne was attending the Eagles of Death Metal gig with her friend Christine Tudhope to celebrate their 33rd birthdays when the terrorists struck.
The pair cheated death by turning right into a cellar instead of left where a gunman was picking off victims.
They then barricaded themselves in with two Italian men and sat silently listening to the screams as the gunmen massacred 89 people just above their heads.
Mrs Payne thought she would never see her two young children again when she saw the bullets hitting the stage during Friday's fateful gig.
She shouted "it's gunfire. Run, get out of here" grabbed her friend Mrs Tudhope and ran towards a fire escape. But they hit a dead end, meaning the only place to hide was the cellar.
She described how they thought they were going to die when two other people entered the cellar - but they turned out to be other hostages who helped them barricade the door.
Mrs Tudhope, a PR executive from near Dunfermline said: "We were sitting there waiting to be shot. But if we had gone into the street we would have been shot."
Another survivor, Pierre Marie Bertin, saw men pleading for the lives of their wives and girlfriends as the killers with their assault rifles told them to shut up.
He told USA Today: "There were some men that went on to the balcony and tried to negotiate for the lives of their wives with one of the guys. It was sickening."

8.30pm: Explosions heard
Two explosions were heard near the Stade de France, where Francois Hollande was watching France play Germany in an international football friendly,
9.30pm: Reports of shooting
Around one hour later there were reports of a shooting at the Petit Cambodge restaurant, about five miles away from the Stade de France.
10pm: 18 confirmed dead
By 10pm, French Police had confirmed that at least 18 people had been killed. Meanwhile, there were also reports of shootings near the Bataclan theatre, south of the restaurant.
10.08pm: Death toll rises
Within 10 minutes, police officials confirmed that the death toll had risen to at least 26 people, 15 of whom were killed in the Bataclan theatre. They also said that an ongoing hostage crisis had developed at the theatre, which was hosting a performance by Eagles Of Death Metal, an American rock band. Between 60 and 100 people were reportedly being held hostage.
10.15pm: Hollande evacuated

11.02pm: State of emergency
President Hollande placed the whole of France under a state of emergency and announced that the country's borders had been closed. It followed confirmation that the death toll had risen to 42 people and a statement from Barack Obama, who said: "We stand together with them in the fight against terrorism and extremism."
11.20pm: Suicide attacks
Around 20 minutes later, French police confirmed two suicide attacks and one bombing near the Stade de France stadium. At least three people were believed to have died in those attacks near the stadium. Soon after that, there were reports of shots and explosions at the Bataclan theatre.
11.30pm: Police storm theatre
As the French military were photographed making their way into the centre of Paris, the police outside the Bataclan theatre stormed the building shortly after 11.30pm. Police officials confirmed the security forces had launched an assault on the theatre and two attackers had been killed.
Inside the theatre
One official described "carnage" inside the building, saying the attackers had thrown explosives at the hostages, and it was confirmed that at least 100 people were killed inside the Bataclan theatre. That number was later reported to be 80.
11.55pm: Commandos move in

1am: Terrorists wearing suicide belts
Paris police confirm attackers at the Bataclan, who were wearing suicide belts, blew themselves up as police raided the venue. Before entering the concert hall and taking those inside hostage they had sprayed the cafes outside the hall with gunfire.
1.40am: All attackers dead
Police said they believed all the attackers involved in the string of attacks were dead. They added that a hunt was underway for possible accomplices.
3am: Hollande says France will 'lead the fight'
President Hollande visited the Bataclan. Speaking about the fight against those responsible for attacking the country he said: "We will lead the fight. We will be merciless."
3.30am: Terrorists could still be at large
The Paris prosecutor's office said eight attackers had been killed, seven of them in suicide bombings. A spokeswoman added that it is possible there are terrorists still at large.
Obama offers condolences
President Obama called President Hollande to offer condolences on behalf of the American people, and reiterate the country's support for the investigation into what happened.

Downing Street said David Cameron would chair a meeting of the Government's emergency Cobra committee.
6.40am Iranian President cancels visit to France and Italy
Hassan Rouhani cancelled his visit to Italy and France following attacks, Iran’s foreign minister confirmed to state news agency, IRNA. He condemned the incident as an “inhumane crime”.
7.30am Vatican condemns 'mad terrorist violence'
“We condemn (it) in the most radical way together with the pope and all those who love peace,” Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi said in a statement.
8.30am Disneyland Paris closes
Theme park shuts for the day in the wake of the terror attacks. A statement on the attraction’s website read: “Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those affected by these horrible events.”
9.40am ISIS claim responsibility
The terror group’s propaganda agency, the al-Hayat Media Centre, formally claims responsibility and called them a ‘miracle’.
10am French President says attacks were 'an act of war'
Francois Hollande has addressed the country, saying: "France will not be unbreakable in the face of these attacks.” He described the incident as “an act of war”.
10.30am Gatwick Airport evacuated
The north terminal was evacuated following a terror alert. Sussex Police said it cleared people from the terminal because of a suspect package.
12.25pm Syrian passport found on body of suicide bomber
It is believed it was found on one of the terrorists at the Stade de France. France had been playing Germany at the national stadium when the attacks started.
1.50pm British man working at Bataclan among the dead
Nick Alexander was selling merchandise for Californian band Eagles of Death Metal at the venue when ISIS gunmen stormed the building. Friend Roisin McDonnell posted on Facebook: “I’m completely lost for words"
6.21pm Paris prosecutor confirms 129 dead
Francois Molins has confirmed 129 people were killed. The toll was expected to rise further, with 99 people are critically injured in hospital. A total of 352 people were injured.
9pm Armed police enter Paris hotel and area evacuated
Reports of armed police surrounding an entering the Pullman Hotel near the Eiffel Tower and the area being evacuated. Later reported to be a false alarm.

Isobel Bowdery posted a picture of her blood-stained vest on Facebook along with chilling details of how she pretended to dead for an hour as the gunmen ‘circled like vultures’.
10.20pm Government to hold COBRA meeting on Sunday
The Government will hold a crisis meeting on Sunday chaired by Theresa May to discuss Britain’s security response following the attacks in Paris.
A government source said: “The Home Secretary [Theresa May] will chair a COBR tomorrow morning on the Paris attacks and the government’s response.”

Footage shows a terrified pregnant woman trying to flee the Paris bloodbath hung from a window ledge high above the ground, pleading for help.
The unidentified mum-to-be was one of hundreds in the Bataclan theatre as the slaughter took place on Friday night.
