Seoul City announced that it would increase the number of high-speed electric vehicle (EV) chargers in the city by 136 this year and by 270 in 2016, to reach 600 by 2018. “The idea is to let drivers find at least one charger within a five-minute drive anywhere in the city,” it added.
In addition, the city government is planning to set up an industrial complex specialized in Evs, while providing services relating to EV sharing, electric trucks, electric motorcycles, and EV charging stations at the same time. It is going to wrap up test EV driving and kick off co-purchases in the near future, too.
Its electric taxi testing continues until June before covering owner-driven cabs. The Korea Development Bank’s EV Fund is to be used for the co-purchase of electric-CNG hybrid buses with other local governments.
Seoul City is looking to purchase 40,000 electric cars, 3,000 electric buses, and 7,000 electric cabs and trucks.
