WWE Night of Champions 2015: Matches and Information

WWE Night of Champions 2015 happens on Sunday, September 20th. We've got all the details on it right here...

On September 20, WWE lets loose with their next PPV, WWE Night of Champions 2015 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. First debuting in 2007, Night of Champions has been based on the idea of putting every single championship on the line in one night. This will be the ninth installment.

Here are the matches we know about right now. From the confirmed to the yet-to-be-confirmed to the confirmed-but-may-not-be-happening-at-the-show-after-all.

SETH ROLLINS (C) VS. STING

Ever since screwing Brock Lesnar out of the WWE Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania, Rollins has survived by the skin of his teeth. While some of his longevity has come from skill and athleticism, much of it has also come from the help of others and pure luck. Everyone from J&J Security, Kane, the Undertaker, and even Jon Stewart have helped him remain champion. Then at SummerSlam, Rollins was able to defeat John Cena in a title vs. title match. Rollins now holds both the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and the United States Championship.

During a celebration meant to be the unveiling of his new statue, Rollins was surprised to see it gone and “The Vigilante” Sting in its place. Not having been seen since the night after WrestleMania, Sting beat Rollins into oblivion and sent him running. Triple H, flabbergasted, set up a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match for Night of Champions.

In the weeks that followed, Rollins had been obsessed with getting his statue back, but not only has Sting destroyed the statue to mess with him, but he's also caused plenty of friction in the Authority by pointing out that Rollins is not on Triple H's level. Said friction has helped cause this next match...

SETH ROLLINS (C) VS. JOHN CENA

Seth Rollins is going to have a rough night, indeed. Every title is supposed to be on the line and Rollins holds two. John Cena wants his rematch and it's been granted. In one night, Rollins has to take on Cena AND Sting and is likely to lose it all.

Even then, if he could get through this gauntlet, Rollins knows that Money in the Bank winner Sheamus will be waiting in the wings, ready to Brogue Kick what's left of the champion and get the WWE World Heavyweight Championship for himself.

DEAN AMBROSE, ROMAN REIGNS, AND A MYSTERY PARTNER VS. THE WYATT FAMILY

The two buddies of the former Shield came out on top against the Wyatts at SummerSlam, but one night later, they introduced the latest member of the Wyatt Family: Braun Strowman. The mountain of a man crushed both Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose at the same time in several instances. Not only is he unstoppable, but the numbers game is dooming.

Reigns and Ambrose have been granted a match at Night of Champions with a partner of their choice. On Raw, they were seen chatting it up with Randy Orton. Later that night, Orton was attacked by the Wyatt Family. Then on Smackdown, Reigns and Ambrose teamed up with Reigns' cousin Jimmy Uso and he also got thrashed by the Wyatts. Reigns and Ambrose now claim that they have a third member, but refuse to say who it is because information is power.

DOLPH ZIGGLER VS. RUSEV (W/ SUMMER RAE)

It's the feud that just won't end. Rusev ran off his old valet Lana, who then ran into the arms of Dolph Ziggler for the sake of making Rusev jealous. Then Rusev started dating Summer Rae and molded her into being just like Lana. Rusev got injured, then came back, Ziggler got injured, then came back, and now Lana is injured and is out of the picture.

The silly little storyline has gotten into TMZ territory now with Summer sneaking into Ziggler's locker room to catch him in the shower, only to then tell everyone that she's been seduced by him. Then Ziggler's been handing Summer gifts to get into her head. If you ask me, the feud will never hit the highs of when Rusev angrily threw a headless fish.

NIKKI BELLA (C) VS. CHARLOTTE

After realizing that the Divas Revolution has been spinning its wheels as of the second week, they've finally started doing something. Charlotte and her PCB teammates Paige and Becky Lynch were awarded a chance at the title via a Beat the Clock Challenge. Charlotte came out on top and became #1 contender.

Nikki's reign as Divas Champion was about to break the record of longest reign ever. Charlotte had her match pushed up a few days for the ability to stop her, but she ended up pinning Brie Bella instead (which would have been an okay twist if they hadn't just done that several months ago). Stephanie McMahon claimed that Charlotte won by DQ and therefore Nikki would break AJ Lee's record...because WWE's petty like that.

Because of that ending, Charlotte will have her rematch at Night of Champions. If Nikki gets herself disqualified, she'll lose the title.

RYBACK (C) VS. KEVIN OWENS

On Raw, Ryback was getting ready for a match when Kevin Owens confronted him and passive-aggressively wished him good luck. A week later, Owens then came out to make fun of Ryback's favorite little self-help book, The Secret, which rubbed Ryback the wrong way. With Owens having won his feud with Cesaro at SummerSlam and his constant desire to be a champion of some sort, that would give him just the right momentum to be Ryback's challenger.

NEW DAY (C) VS. DUDLEY BOYZ

The New Day regained the Tag Team Championship from the Prime Time Players at SummerSlam, but on the Raw after, they were attacked by the returning Dudley Boyz. Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston, and Big E have been very vocal about how they disapprove of Bubba Ray and D-Von smashing people through tables and a showdown is pretty imminent.

On the Raw before Night of Champions, the New Day retained against the Prime Time Players, knowing that the winning team would have to face the Dudleys at the PPV. Bubba Ray and D-Von made sure to remind them of that during the celebration.

LUCHA DRAGONS AND NEVILLE VS. THE COSMIC WASTELAND

Neville and Stardust have had a lengthy rivalry based on Neville's superhero style mixed with Stardust's obsession with being a villain. Neville teamed up with Hollywood's Stephen Amell at SummerSlam against Stardust and King Barrett, but with Amell pinning Barrett, the beef hadn't really been dealt with. Stardust kicked Barrett to the curb and continued with his obsession. Since then, he's teamed up with fellow facepainted weirdos the Ascension while Neville's been evening the odds with fellow flippy dudes the Lucha Dragons.

Eight matches seem to be enough for the show, but there's always the possibility of some kind of Cesaro vs. Miz pre-show opener or something relating to Big Show. We'll update this with all the new matches as they're announced.
