Why EFCC Arrested Ex-PDP Chairman Uche Secondus… Party Kicks, Raises Alarm Over Ekweremadu, Others

Former acting national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Uche Secondus, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over his alleged involvement in multi-billion deals involving an oil tycoon, Jide Omokore.

It was gathered that Secondus’ arrest in Abuja today follows clues obtained from on-going investigation into the oil swap deals in the NNPC, with particular reference to some donations made by a major beneficiary of the oil deal to the party while he held forte as its acting national chairman.

Secondus, who is the substantive deputy national chairman of the opposition party, was accused of receiving some exotic vehicles donated by Mr. Olajide Omokore, the alleged crony of the former minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Deziani Allison-Madueke, who is presently battling cancer in London. As a result, the EFCC is

probing the source of the funds used to purchase the vehicles, some of which were allegedly meant for the party’s officials.

Omokore, whose company, Atlantic Energy Drilling Concepts Nigeria Limited, was rated as one of the highest beneficiaries of the former minister’s contract approvals, has been in EFCC custody for over a week now.

Meanwhile, the national working committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) this evening condemned the arrest of its deputy national chairman, Uche Secondus by the EFCC.
