7 Major Things That Happened During Saraki's CCT Trial Today

The corruption trial of Nigeria's Senate President Bukola Saraki resumed today, 18th of April 2016. Today will mark the third day of the trial after several adjournments.

Here are the major things that happened at the trial:

1. The lead prosecution counsel, Rotimi Jacobs, arrived one hour late.
2. The case was stood down for one hour and resumed by 12:00 pm. (As a result of Jacob's lateness)
3. Saraki came with his usual Legion of Lawyers, and Senators.
4. Justice Umar Danladi announced a major change in the running of the case. He declared that the court will hold every day from 10 am to 6 pm. (details here)
5. The prosecution tendered several bank checks and other banking documents as evidence of payments for undeclared properties bought by Saraki. About 38 documents were accepted into evidence.
6. Lead witness, Michael Wetkas (an EFCC official) was quizzed by the Prosecutor. (details here)
7. The case was adjourned to 12pm Tuesday 19th of April, 2016. Saraki's request to adjourned further on the excuse that he has to preside at the Senate was rejected.
