‘Nigerians Won’t Accept Any Further Polls Shift’ – Falana Packs All The Punches

A pro-democracy group, Nigerians United for Democracy has said plans by the Federal Government to further postpone the 2015 general elections will end up in failure.

In a statement issued on Saturday at a rally held at Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park in Ojota, Lagos, tagged; “Citizens Expression of Love for Democracy,” the group stressed that any attempt by the Jonathan administration to postpone the elections again or use the military during the vote would be met with a stiff fight.

The NUD Leader, Femi Falana (SAN) warned security chiefs to be awake to the reality that they had no business interfering in the conduct of elections, adding that the military had usurped the role of the Independent National Electoral Commission and the police by forcing themselves into electoral matters thereby committing constitutional breach.

On the leaders who claim to be speaking for the Yoruba and Igbo, and thus announced their endorsement of Goodluck Jonathan to return for a second term as President, Falana said they were just a pack of game players who mean nothing in the real state of Yoruba and Igbo affairs.

Falana said although there was no coup, he had established that Jonathan’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Doyin Okupe, had said that the current administration would never hand over to General Muhammadu Buhari.
