As much and as less that we know from travels, growth and development, including passing through huddles, being oneness has never been easy, regardless of family inclinations, race, ethnicity, faith and many more. Practicing faith and history also confirmed aforementioned, regardless of wealth and global power.
Nigerian issues are not only minor but complex, not because of imbedded human and mineral resources but remains unexplainable, whereas, we have all it takes to lead as the most populous black nation, very educated, well-travelled and have being proven to bear with all failures, lapses and interpersonal greed.
Take a cross examination of the country, categorically everyone can say, we are beautifully webbed and twined together, for better for worse as marriage creed enumerated, yet we have more than enough to go round. But, we take many things for granted, resultant of where we are today. Minor and major individuals, and groups are disenfranchised of their rights and basic needs. The role of women was either swept under the carpets or avoidable ignored.
Nigeria must come out of its shame and shambles, bail itself from troubles and tribulations, take the bull by its horns, with dignity and respect address all predicaments leading civil unrest, peace and security of the nation immediately before unscrupulous element take due advantage of reoccurring incidences not limited to international communities supports.
As Nigeria respects all nations sovereignty, boundaries and territories, a simple reciprocation of the same is about equitable friendship and not negotiable. We are a nation formed and guided by a renowned constitution as others. The constitution must be followed to the latter with modern inclusions and perhaps amendments.
We rise to recapitulate our voices at this time of urgent need; as such, on behalf of Voice of women in Nigeria, hereunder are our demands:
1) zero tolerance for hate speech while promoting and protecting freedom of expression.
2) The engagement of women in governance in the public and private sector as well as peace building and conflict resolution platforms.
3) ethnic, religious and political groups refrain from making blanket statements with women and youths.
4) need everyone to know that when these provocative statements are made they are not speaking for women and the youths.
Others are:
1) we are all working togetherfor a betterfuture for our beloved country and generationsto come by promoting the ideal ideas of puttingNigeria first, also regrouping to be our brothers and sisters’ keeper.
2) we will continue to advocate for peace as mothers of this nation, must people who tested the 1960 war are yet to recover from the tremor that catastrophe of war has brought. Not too long ago, our brothers and neighborsin Rwanda passed through the catastrophe of war which they are yet to recover.
It is believed, a word is enough for the wise; we are in expectation fussing together, team working towards the benefit of a common cooperative purpose and human development. I wish to use this opportunity to remind the Senate to pass a law that will give women a choice to contribute their quota in decision making and when it comes to the issues of war!
