Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido has admitted that his political party committed some unforced and costly errors that culminated in its losing the presidency 16 years after it first swept its way to power.

Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defeated incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to clinch the number one position in the country. It will be the first time in the fourth republic that the PDP would be relinquishing its stranglehold on power.

And the PDP has been doing some soul searching since the events of March 31.

“I am sure if you know the party’s history, what it went through in the last 16 years, it has the capacity to bounce back. PDP made some mistakes”, Lamido said.

He however said members of the party won’t be pointing accusing fingers around the place.

“I have been saying so, the party made very very costly mistakes and we have not been able to properly manage our successes. But to me, I don’t think quitting PDP is the answer.

“We won’t go into blame game. In what way will this blame change the attitude of the crowd? Leadership is a very huge burden and is normal for followership to stick in other to look at things from their own perspective,” he said.
