Ex-Gov. Sylva believes that most Nigerian politicians are mentally unstable – he’s definitely on that list.
If we use the description of former Bayelsa governor, Timipre Sylva, in rating Nigerian politicians, then it’s safe to conclude that most are “mentally unstable” and in need of “psychiatric evaluation.”
Sylva believes that those who defect from one party to another have a mental issue.
“Chief Timipre Sylva finds a correlation between impulsive defections and mental instability, and so, considers those flirting from party to party as people needing psychiatric evaluation,” said the former governor in a statement signed by his spokesman, Julius Bokoru.
No sense of irony
Sylva’s comment was in response to rumours that he has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He denies it. Then he used the opportunity to throw shades at those who have defected – and there have been many in this political season, including the nation’s number three citizen, Bukola Saraki.
However if defecting is a symptom of mental instability, then Sylva is also unstable.
Even worse, Dickson is a perennial election rigger. His 2008 election as governor was nullified by the Appeal Court due to irregularities. Also in 2012, his tenure was terminated by the Supreme Court. He was also accused of embezzlement amounting to billions of naira by the EFCC. It is ironic that the ex-governor does not see all these a sign of a mentally unstable individual.
