It’s the promised “Ocean Economy” in reverse.

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos, Jimi Agbaje, charged the crowds at the Alaba international market and trade fair complex to push the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) into the belly of the Atlantic Ocean with their votes.

Agbaje was playing on comments made by the Oba of Lagos that have outraged sections of the country. Agbaje has been appealing to Igbo sentiments in the State as he seeks to achieve his governorship ambition after many years of asking.

“Nobody can push you into the Atlantic Ocean”, he thundered to his mostly Igbo audience. “Rather, you should use your votes to push APC into the Atlantic Ocean by voting massively for PDP on Saturday.”

Agbaje also referred to the APC as a snake.

“Election is like a snake. You have to make sure you win by killing the snake completely by using your votes to drive APC out of power.

“The reason why they are harassing you is because they fear Igbo votes.

“They will try to do shakara for you. But ensure that you vote massively for the PDP and protect your votes,” he said.
