Ambode 'reunites' with Babajide Sanwo-Olu

Barely a week after both the Lagos state governor, Akinwumi Ambode, and the APC governorship candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, jostled for the party's ticket, the duo were on Saturday, October 6, seated together at the party national convention, Abuja.

Sanwo-Olu was declared winner of the election as he polled 970,851 votes to defeat Governor Ambode who reportedly had 72,901 votes.

It was, however, observed that the Ambode and Sanwo-Olu's caps faced opposite directions.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that the APC in Lagos state declared Jide Sanwo-Olu as winner of the primary election and governorship candidate of the party for 2019.

Tunde Balogun who is the chairman of the party in Lagos announced the result on Tuesday, October 2 at the party secretariat. According to him, Sanwo-Olu polled 970,851 votes to defeat Governor Akinwunmi Ambode who reportedly had 72,901 votes.

This declaration is coming even after it was reported that the National Working Committee of the party had cancelled the exercise. In a related development, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the national leader of the APC said though Governor Ambode has done well in office, he has not been a good party man.

It was gathered that for this reason, Tinubu said, the APC has decided to withdraw support for the governor who wished to go for a second term. It was also reported that party members in Badagry on Tuesday, October 2, disagreed on use of party slip by members to vote for the governorship primary.
