Influential politician, businessman and former governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi, has been reportedly picked as the running mate to Atiku Abubakar.

TORI News reported earlier on Friday that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, was in a closed-door meeting with Peter Obi at his Asokoro home in Abuja.
According to PUNCH, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, after the meeting on Friday, picked the former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, as his running mate ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Obi emerged the preferred choice of both the party and the candidate after series of consultations by stakeholders in the party and outside it.
It was gathered that Obi's name and that of Atiku will be sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) next week.
