The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari has defeated his main challenger, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to win Gombe State, in the Presidential election conducted on Saturday.
Buhari scored a total of 402,961 votes in the results of all the 11 local government areas officially announced by the state Collation Centre Officer and Vice Chancellor of the Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola, Professor Kyari Mohammed.
On the other hand, his main challenger, Atiku Abubakar of the PDP polled 138,484 in the state.
A DailyTrust correspondent reports that with the final results announced from the 11 LGAs of the state, Buhari got 73 per cent of the total valid votes, while Atiku got 25 per cent with other parties sharing 2 per cent.
Professor Kyari said out of the 1, 385,191 registered voters in the state, a total of 604,240 voters were accredited and 580,649 cast their votes.
He added that out of the total votes cast, 554,203 are valid, while a total of 26,446 votes were rejected.
