Freedom of speech is the ‘substructure of democracy.’ - Atiku

Atiku Abubakar, the 2019 Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, on Saturday, reacted to the arrest of AAC presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore by operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS.

DAILY POST had reported that Sowore, the convener of #RevolutionNow Protests, was picked up at his apartment in the early hours of Saturday.

The politician posted a distress tweet at exactly 1:25 am which reads, “DSS invades Sowore’s.”

Later he added another tweet which could be a confirmation that his phone must have been seized while trying to raise the alarm about his arrest.

Reacting, Atiku while condemning the arrest on his Twitter page, maintained that freedom of speech is the ‘substructure of democracy.’

He tweeted, “Freedom of speech is not only constitutionally guaranteed, it is the substructure of our democracy.

“These kidnappings in the guise of arrests stands condemned.”
