#EndSARS Crises: Nigeria On Edge Of Cliff, Great Harm Done – Obasanjo Laments [VIDEO]

  • Says Buhari did not exhaust opportunity for dialogue
  •
  • says shooting, murder only reinforce anger, frustration

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that with the situation in many part of the country arising from the #EndSARS protest, Nigeria is on the edge of a cliff which requires mature leadership, asking President Muhammadu Buhari to act before it is too late.

Obasanjo, in an undated Statement made available by his media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi tagged ‘Statement on Violence Against Protesters in Nigeria: An Appeal for Calm’, said it was obvious that the President Buhari and his lieutenants did not exhaust opportunity for dialogue with the protesters before resorting to the use of force.

The former President, in the statement which he personally signed, said shooting and murder of unharmed protesters no matter the level of provocation has never been effective in suppressing public anger and frustration.

According to him, shooting and murder only reinforce the anger and frustration of the populace while closing window of dialogues and peaceful resolution.

Obasanjo in the 8 paragraph statement said the situation became worse with denial of wrongdoing from authorities despite overwhelming visual evidence insisting that great harm has been done to the Nation.
