APC appoints impeached Ondo Deputy Governor, Olanusi as BOT member

A week after he was impeached by the Ondo State House of Assembly, the All Progressive Congress (APC) has appointed the former Deputy Governor of the State, Alhaji Ali Olanusi as a member of the party’s Board of Trustees (BOT).

The party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party in a letter signed by its Secretary, Hon. Mai Bala Buni said Olanusi’s is expected to serve in the position for four years.

Olanusi who defected from People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to APC in the eve of March 28 presidential election was last week impeached as the Deputy Governor of the state by 23 members of the State House of Assembly over alleged corrupt practices, absenteeism and gross misconduct.

The former Deputy Governor was replaced by another cabinet member Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo who has since assumed duties in that capacity.

However, the APC has compensated him with the position of BOT member.

The letter back dated November 17, 2014, appointing Olanusi as a member of the party’s highest decision making body, said the appointment would last for four years starting from July 2014.

Within the four-year tenure, the APC said the former Deputy Governor would work with other members of the BOT to develop the party.

The letter advised the former deputy governor to liaise with other members of the board to work for the progress, unity and development of the party.

It said the 72-year old Olanusi would work within the ambit of the constitution of the APC and take decisions objectively on behalf of the party in the interest and growth of the members.
