Juicy allowances await the incoming lawmakers, ministers and presidential aides, investigation has revealed. It was gathered that each of the Senators, Representatives and minsters would be paid N4, 052,800; N3, 970,425 and N3, 915,160 respectively as housing allowance on annual basis. For furniture, each of the senators, Representatives, and ministers is to get N6, 079,200; N5, 955,637.50 and N6, 079,200 respectively. The Senate President, Deputy Senate President, Speaker and the Deputy Speaker are excluded as their housing and furniture are to be fully provided by the Government.
For vehicle, each of the senators is entitled to a loan of N8, 105,600, each representative, N7, 940,850.50 and each minister, N7, 830,320. There are other regular perks of office that are paid to lawmakers on a monthly basis. These include motor vehicle maintenance and fuelling, pegged at 75% of their monthly salary. Others are personal assistant, 25%; domestic staff, 75%; entertainment, 30%; utilities, 30%; newspapers/periodicals, 15%; wardrobe, 25%; house maintenance 5%; and constituency, 250% amongst others.
